While excavating the site of Pompeii, the city buried when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, the body of a man encased in lava rock is discovered. With the stone man is found a jewel chest. After this find is transported to the Naples Museum, strange things happen. A translation of a medallion discloses that the body is Quintillis, "son of Etruscian gods," destined to live again. After called in to study the stone man, Dr. Paul Mallon (RICHARD ANDERSON) learns that his fiancee, Tina (ELAINE EDWARDS) is having strange dreams about Quintillis. Being an artist, she is compelled to paint its portrait. Then the creature comes to life, drawn inexorably to Tina who is the reincarnation of his ancient love. Guided by occult forces, the Faceless Man, impervious to bullets, pushes on... apparently an unstopable menace. Directed by Edward L.
