Jungle Girl comics experienced a virtual explosion of characters following World War Two. Suddenly jungle characters emerged in their own books rather than as lead features or back-ups in other titles. This movement was spearheaded by publisher Victor Fox who launched many pin-up style comics. He realized that with the return of many soldiers from World War II, sales would be lucrative for the comics containing girls! Leg art was what they liked and leg art was what they got. Who better to show a lot of leg than a scantily clad jungle babe!

The formula was working for Fiction House and it would work for Fox Features. He changed the funny animal title, ZOOT, to a jungle book starring RULAH, a dark haired exotic whose bust size exceeded even that of Sheena. Each publisher had his own jungle characters. The proliferation of jungle goddesses are too many to mention here. AC Comics produced a complete guide to the jungle genre in GOLDEN AGE GREATS Vol. 14. The undisputed Queen of the Jungle is SHEENA, blonde savage of the Congo, published by Fiction House.

Besides GOLDEN AGE GREATS Vol. 14, AC published a series called JUNGLE GIRLS which is listed in our Online Store. Jungle Girls is considered by many as a division of the Good Girl genre, but in AC's books it is treated as a separate category. Here you will find Sheena, Rulah, Camilla, Cave Girl, Nyoka, Tygra, Princess Pantha.... even Judy of the Jungle!
