Western Movie Heroes # 1
The magazine dedicated to showcasing the favorite movie cowboys of yesteryear in comic adventures and biographies. Johnny Mack Brown is the star feature this issue, with eight pages of text and photos from his movies, including a complete filmography, plus a full comic story reprint from an actual vintage issue of his Dell Comics run, titled "The Phantom Stage".Then, three of Johnny's best cowboy compadres guest star in comic book story reprints: Rocky Lane in "Gunning For Trouble"; Tex Ritter in "The Jaws of Terror", and Tom Mix in "The Vanishing Skins", all from Golden Age issues of their Fawcett Comics series. Plus, full-page photo studies of Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, and one photo of Tom Mix. Western Movie Hero # 2
This big second issue of Western Movie Hero spotlights the film career of Monte Hale, including an interview with the star and photos from his personal collection. Monte and his wife, Joanne worked with AC Comics on this special issue. Also included are great classic reprints from the Golden Age of the Western comic book- Tim Holt, ( drawn by Frank Bolle) Tom Mix, (by Carl Pfeuffer) , Lash Larue, and Monte himself, reproduced in crystal clear line art just as they originally appeared in the 1940's and '50's, in the pages of Fawcett and Magazine Enterprises comics. Beyond the reprints, the special focus section on Monte runs a full 18 pages, chock full of phots, interview, and historic text on his career. Western Movie Hero #3
John Ford's classic, " Rio Grande", starring John Wayne is spotlighted with text and photos including behind-the-scenes planning this issue. The Duke is also featured in "The Panther Man!" comic strip feature by Al Williamson, from Wayne's 1950's comic book series. Western thrills continue with Monte Hale who faces the deadly Minstrel Man who has composed a "Song of Death" for the tall Texan. The smoking six-shooter in his hand made the finger of guilt point right at Rocky Lane after a ride on "The Stagecoach of Doom!" by Ralph Carlson. Big John Wayne returns to face "Ghost Guns" in a second adventure drawn by Myron Fass. The spotlight falls this time on Rex Allen, the Arizona Cowboy. Rex stars in "The False Alarm", a story beautifully illustrated by fan favorite Russ Manning. Allen's film career is covered with accompanying photos. Then, Johnny Mack Brown stars in "The Sea Rustlers", which is drawn by one of Russ Manning's favorite artists- Jesse Marsh. Johnny uncovers , Republic Pictures star, in "Prisoner on Wheels", an offbeat yarn by Carl Pfeufer. The Sword of Zorro #1 SOLD OUT!!
A complete facscimile reprint of this 1953 classic, drawn by Everett Raymond Kinstler, and originally published by Dell Comics. Hand of Zorro #1
Another epic adventure of El Zorro, The Fox, as illustrated by Everettt Raymond Kinstler, originally published by Dell in the 1950's. TV WESTERN #1
This title spotlights TV shows adapted into comic books and begins with one of the best: Range Rider, as drawn by legendary artist, Alex Toth. Alex worked with AC on this project and added grey tones to create depth to art he did over 40 years ago! Two Toth Range Rider stories are presented here plus series history and photos of star Jock Mahoney. But thet ain't all, pards!! Roy Rogers stars in a Western adventure with his TV sidekick, Pat- drawn by big John Buscema. Guy Madison as TV hero Wild Bill Hickock, blazes into action with art by the great Joe Maneely. Classic reprints from the Golden Age of the Western comic book, reprising material originally produced for Charlton and Dell publications. 44 pages, black and white interiors with color photo covers. Alex Toth, master of the graphic arts provides illustration on "Tornado", starring Roy Rogers; while cover feature Sgt. Preston sports art by Alberto Giolotti. Back-ups include Wild Bill Hickock, Range Rider and MacKenzie's Raiders, with art by Tony Sgroi, Jesse Marsh, Charles Nicholas and Sal Trapani. Great reprints of the comic book exploits of classic Western TV characters, as oroginally seen within the pages of comics from Dell and Charlton in the 1950's and '60's.
