Crypt of Horror Volume 24 is another top-shelf collection of horror comic book esoterica unavailable anywhere else. This issues’ double-feature special focus is on Fawcett Publications and Ace Magazines. Fawcett was one of the first publishers to jump on the horror band-wagon, and this stanza of COH will boast a quintet of extra-long scare tales from various issues of their seminal horror comic, “This Magazine Is Haunted”. The stories are “Stand-in For Death” (by future EC great George Evans), “The Aged Curse”, “The Phantom Gloves” (by Ed Moline), Leonard Frank’s “The Man Who Saw Too Much”, and “The Dance of the Dead”. From Ace, we will present their “The Beyond” #4 (from May 1951, reprinted in it’s entirety, which includes “Trial By Ghost”(with art by Ken Rice), “The Spell of the Hypnotic Chord” (drawn by Louis Zansky), “Cult of the Undead” (the very FIRST Ace story ever drawn by the prolific Jim McLaughlin), and “It Happened On Valentine’s Eve.” In addition, a pair of wacked-out Superior Stories macabre gems (illustrated by the ubiquitous Iger Studios) will be featured this issue; “Chant of the Dead” and “Fate Has A Thousand Faces”. Plus eight more vintage classics- “Ed’s Young Wife” by Ben Brown and Dave Gantz; “I Lived Four Times”, “What Lurks Beneath”; Bob Powell’s “Manhunt”; “A Voyage Into Forever”; “The Forbidden Forest” by Tony DiPreta; “The Man Who Went Back” by Pete Tumlinson, and Steve Ditko’s “Shadow and Substance”. Add it all up and it’s another 140-page monster of choice vintage horror comics in crystal-clear full-story reprints for the bargain price of $29.95- Crypt of Horror Volume 24, coming in January 2015 from AC Comics.
