Special Notes: This issue ships in a 2:1 ratio of standard Alex Schomburg MISS MASQUE and BLACK TERROR cover design A to a special alternate GREEN GIANT cover B. (Meaning out of every THREE copies of this book that are shipped, ONE will be the Harry Sahle GREEN GIANT alternate version.
Another fascinating mix of the weird, the wonderful and the sublime from the great superhero comics of the Golden Age from a number of different publishers, including Standard/Nedor, Fawcett, Eastern Color, Fox Features, Pelican Comics (?), the Bernard Bailey studious and others; not seen anywhere in print since their original publication in the 1940’s. Favorite “headline” features in “fresh” reprint stories coming in MOM #102 include The BLACK TERROR, “good girl” art favorite MISS MASQUE, the SPIRIT of ’76 (as drawn by the great Bob Powell) Mr. SCARLET(by Carl Pfeufer) and CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT. For the more esthetically-minded, there are the seldom-seen COMMANDO YANK and PHANTOM EAGLE, FEARLESS FLINT( illustrated by Wonder Woman co-creator H. G. Peter), GIRL COMMANDOS (featuring the work of lady artist Jill Elgin) and RED ROCKET; the downright rare RED BLAZER ( a great character, but he only ever APPEARED in four stories in 1941), Dick Briefer’s REX DEXTER, the GOLDEN KNIGHT and The MASK, PLUS the ULTRA-RARE MOM first-timer Mr. LUCIFER (as drawn by the unheralded John Giunta- WHY is this guy NOT mentioned among the early artistic greats with his very black-heavy, Mort Meskinesque mid-’40’s style); AND perhaps the RAREST of the RARE- The GREEN GIANT!! G.G. was the titular feature in an infamous 1940 one-shot packaged by the creative group responsible for the earliest Timely, Centaur and Novelty Press books, the Lloyd Jaquet Studios. This oddwad book has become one of the hardest-to-find of ALL Golden Age titles, and a real coup to present to today’s audiences in reprint form. Thatr’s MOM #102, another historic triumph assembled for the discriminating devote of vintage four-color heroes. 140 pages of crisp, clean black and white full-story reprints inside full-color covers; standard comic book size- for $29.95. Coming in October, 2016 from AC Comics
